If it is going to be anything close to the actual game, if it must be, just assume devs are compelled enough to do a Sims ripoff. On top of all that, whatever this project might be, imagine no pressure for original ideas. Let your imagination go over the horizon and you don't find your game there. It's whatever you like, just picture yourself that there is no game on the horizon. It tickles your imagination, right? But essentially, fundamentally, they are nice animations, which can be done in any environment. For example, Sebastian has a secret door behind the bookshelf - because. Teasers for this "game", or game experience more correctly, are a bit scarce, but also very, very sweet. Yes, because you are your own Zen master. Sure you will enjoy playing a game where a character goes about smelling flowers for a couple of minutes, maybe a couple more, just smelling flowers in the wind, with nice and soothing music in the background. Just some relaxing activities, with so much finesse and detail, which almost seems too contrived, almost too trivial and passive. Let's suppose that, because gameplay wise there is only a footage of para-sims doing some random things. No obligations, no contracts, no publishers, not for a loooong time ahead. Just relaaaaaxing all the while Patreon drips tiny little coins. Adding features here and there, upgrading shaders, nice and easy. Now, let's just suppose they enjoy fiddling with it. Just for now, I said, okay! Stop! No! I'm not saying they are not going to do it EVER! Calm down, ok? Are we now OK? Let's just suppose, just a tiny little insignificant, unbinding assumption: they made only an interior design program, for now. They are fulfilling almost every fan request, as it seems for now, yet no sign of, or even a broad direction, what is gameplay going to be. What is going on with this actual game and its dear developers. Look at what is going on in the world, IT industry for example. Now, let's stop being a little bit too silly here. Yeah, please do not rush them, stop sending them draft contracts, proposing publishers, and for god's sake, don't you dare offer to work for them, but send them prayers, positive vibrations, good will, your unconditional love, you c*nts. Where it comes out this year or the next or whatever. We want the game because the genre needs the game. But the game would already be dead in the water without us impatient little "c*nts" building the hype and anticipation of the game. Everything the Sims team does at this point is so disjointed and such an after thought that everything that Paralives team has showed us, even in its brevity, has more potential and is far more enticing than anything the Sims team can tack onto the dead horse that they continue to beat in the form of the sims 4. In a way that at this point I don't think the Sims can do even if it wants to. I'm anxious for Para because it stands to completely revive the life simulation genre. Slowly but surely climbing it's way out of the ravine, it's almost felt like they intentionally avoided giving players what they want. It made so many progressive moves for the sim genre through the 2nd and 3rd editions and then basically through itself off a cliff. The brand has however made several choices in recent years that have imo, and I know loads of people agree, have stagnated the title. The sims is and has been THE building/life simulation game for decades now.

People seem pretty aware of the fact that it is its own entity apart from sims and I honestly think this is a huge contribution in people's angst about it's release. I don't however feel like people's lack of patience for the games release is unwarranted. I get the concept that everything gets better with time. There's no doubt the title has a heap of interest, and I sense the community will willing to come on the development journey - and be patient as features and improvements are slowly added over time. There's no perfect recipe, but I sense that an early access release would be the best approach - as soon as the game has basic features and is reasonably stable. Although it might be years away - it will be crucial that Paralives has a chance to establish itself a solid userbase before that happens. Secondly, the devs need to ensure they don't get gazumped by The Sims 5. I play sim racing games, where titles can be released and then stay in continual development for more than a decade after.

With features and improvements continuing to come in (slowly) for long time after initial release. The challenges will be maintaining interest while we wait, and timing of the release.īeing an indie title, we can expect a slower moving and longer lasting development cycle.
